Report: WB Games’ Crosshairs Back On Batman With Rocksteady Again, But Is Confirmed Years Away Alongside Upcoming Wonder Woman Project

Although the shining success of Warner Bros. Games’ Hogwarts Legacy did outperform Call of Duty when it release in 2023, the year after in 2024 showed to be the complete opposite. Although an anticipated release nearly a decade wait after Batman Arkham Knight, Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League performed nowhere near its projected return for the AAA live-service experience.

Reported to cost the publisher over $200 million, the game was faced with its final stop as the addition of Deathstroke arrived previously. And although Rocksteady Studios did drop the ball severely, it is claimed a new Batman title is in the works. Around the same time as the rumor, it was gathered that the team did restructure with some layoffs as it began ramping up for its next project.

According to Bloomberg recently, the rumored new Batman game at Rocksteady Studios is real. But, there is some major wait time until it is in our hands. The report shares that it is not expected for several years as the team is collecting itself to tackle the new project. But, it is reassuring to align with the previous rumor as fans are hungry for a new Batman Arkham experience.

Not to say that isn’t already here as Batman Arkham Shadow did release this fall on Mata Quest 3. “Batman: Arkham Shadow is a must-have for Dark Knight fans, virtual reality enthusiasts, and anyone else interested in what VR can actually offer. Arkham Shadow redefines virtual reality for the Meta Quest, much like Half-Life: Alyx did for the PC,” our review for the game reads.

On the topic of prolonged waiting for new DC Comics games, Bloomberg also intercepted new information on Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman. In that, it can verify that development on the title has been rebooted internally. And again, the game is still years away from releasing despite the initial reveal being made in December 2021.

Bloomberg does report that this new change of direction will cost Warner Bros. about $100 million which does not help its current situation. Less desirable is what Wonder Woman could be. Previously, it was reported that the game was intended to be a live-service, but the firm did deny the claims then. You can read the full report by heading here.

Which of the two are you most hopeful to see release from Warner Bros. Games?
