Sega Says Investment To Sonic/RGG/Atlus Will Increase As Releases Have A Tame Forecast For 2025

As of late, Sega has remained adamant of providing a new perspective on what Sega stands for. Previously, the firm told that plenty of its new initiative intentions includes rekindling the ‘alternative’ reputation it garnered during the Dreamcast’s release. More recently, part of that includes reshaping itself with new games from its legacy IPs and also cost more retro consoles to be out of the equation.

Elsewhere, the firm has also pressed on subscription. With services like Xbox Game Pass & Nintendo Switch Online, Sega is eager to enter the same market with its rich library of franchises. Atop of that, account integration has also been established with the recent Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii release to unlock in-game items and other collectibles.

The current 2025 roadmap is also looking to be exciting with the RGG Studio release already alongside Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Sonic Rumble, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Compared to 2024, this fiscal year is said to be a tamer release schedule. However, Sega speaking to investors plans to expand investment towards its Sonic, RGG, and Atlus teams.

“For example, ATLUS is an important studio for us to expand Japanese IPs overseas and we think it is necessary to strengthen it, and the studios involved in the Sonic and Like a Dragon IPs are also short of staff, and we are looking to reinforce personnel through additional hiring and M&A,” Sega answers in the investor Q&A.

“The plan is currently being formulated, but we expect the volume of new titles in Full Game to be lower than this fiscal year. On the other hand, we expect continuous revenue contribution from repeat sales of new titles in Full Game this fiscal year and full-scale revenue contribution from new title in F2P. In addition, we expect that licensing revenue from transmedia development and earnings contributions from animation business, etc. will also continue to contribute to earnings.”

Also aiming for 2025 is Jet Set Radio. With the limited information shared on the game, reports have pointed to the game being a live-service approach for Sega – which the firm said to investors is coming later in 2025. You can read the full report by heading here.
