Like Fallout 4 (before it actually was announced) and Half-Life 3, Titanfall 3 is the next installment to be added on the forever waiting list by fans and players across the industry. While Apex Legends proves to be an absolute titan (pun intended) currently, the source material of Titanfall is nowhere to be seen. Previously, dataminers were certain a new Titanfall entry was in the works. Evidently, it appears that is not the case.
A few weeks back, Electronic Arts did confirm efforts at Respawn Entertainment will slim down on one unannounced project. From familiar leakers, it was said to be an abridged project codenamed ‘Titanfall Legends’ which featured characters from both Titanfall & Apex Legends. As for the developer’s stance on the IP ultimately, it did comment that the series is the core DNA for its billboard battle royale.
While the years grew waiting, many hoped an announcement would come for a new Titanfall. But each time founder Vince Zampella spoke on it, he told it was not in the cards. Back in 2019 at the launch of Apex Legends, he told a third game was not in development. He went on to clarify in a later statement it was to prevent crunch amongst the team. Even Electronic Arts shared it acknowledges Titanfall’s significance as well.
This week in preparation for the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Zampella spoke with publication Barron’s on the launch. Ending the discussion he was asked about the state of Titanfall 3 where he answered it is not in the pipeline once again, thanks @AlphaIntel.
NEW: Respawn CEO Vince Zampella says he would love to see Titanfall 3 happen.

Unfortunately, there are no plans right now.

So what does this mean? Well, Respawn is to continue working on Apex Legends – that’s for certain. The developer continues to branch out for the billion dollar IP as it now operates via its home in Sherman Oaks, California alongside Vancouver, Canada & Madison, Wisconsin dedicated teams. But, the team is not done there.
Of course, Star Wars Jedi is to be a full-on franchise with another likely entry to follow the upcoming release. Additionally, Respawn Entertainment is also occupied with more Star Wars projects under Electronic Arts & Lucasfilm Games as previously announced. Opportunity for a new Titanfall would be very slim with how full its plate is becoming for the coming years, unfortunately.
What are your thoughts on the state of Titanfall?
