April especially this year stood as an interesting segment for 2020 as potential rumors emerged for an unannounced Crash Bandicoot title aimed for an announcement this year. While it was not questioned that the series is due for a new game or a remake of another fan-favorite entry, an inquiry was posed against the claims that the game could ship with exclusive rights to the PlayStation 5 that it was leaked to be unique to.

Twitter user @capitaorumor shared that new title has been on the way for three years with Activision at the time working to solidify an agreement with Sony on the agreement for exclusivity. However, the user who made the claim also told that Sony would reveal the PlayStation 5 back in 2019 which did not happen, and their credibility looked to be thinner on the matters.

Regardless, it wasn’t until this week as outlets began reporting to receive a 200-piece puzzle with a subliminal message to be unveiled upon completing the puzzle. The message is revealed to read “A little something to help you pass the TIME” which is penned by “Your Favorite Bandicoot”, IGN reports.

Following that, a new game for the orange bandicoot has emerged through a listing on a Taiwanese Ratings Board. The game uncovered is dubbed ‘Crash Bandicoot: It’s About Time’. Spyro Reignited Trilogy studio Toys for Bob is listed as the game’s developer. Here is the brief synopsis provided from the listing:

Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli. The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible.

On GameRating, Crash Bandicoot: It’s About Time is found listed for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The only next-generation version uncovered for the title is for Xbox Series X according to the Xbox One listing image. However, we might learn more about the game very soon according to Niko Partners’ David Ahmad. In a tweet, Ahmad shares that the game will be officially announced at a coming Summer Game Fest showcase next week, Monday to be approximate.

Oddly enough, this game following its unofficial conception online has been deciphered to be the true fourth installment for the series. This discovery has shown to not agree with some fans who are still excited for a new Crash Bandicoot game. Many identify Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex to be the properly suited fourth entry for the series.
